Chapter I
The Design
what this deck wants
Captain America is a Jeskai Voltron/Equipment deck that suits up the Captain, swings for lethal commander damage with Sword-buffs and double strike, and can also fling the biggest equipment across the table with his Throw ability. His Catch trigger auto-attaches an Equipment each combat for free, so the deck runs a dense equipment package plus cheap tutors and Stoneforge-style cheat effects to find and deploy the right sword fast. Backup wins come from a Zirda + monolith infinite-mana line and from Chandra's Ignition/Nibelheim Aflame damage off a huge Captain.

Sequence
how the game unfolds
EARLY: land a mana rock or two (Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, Talismans) and a cheap equipment enabler — Stoneforge Mystic, Sram, Puresteel Paladin, or a tutor like Steelshaper's Gift / Open the Armory. MID: cast the Captain, let Catch attach a Sword of Feast and Famine / Sword of War and Peace / Colossus Hammer for free at combat, protect him with Mother of Runes or Swiftfoot Boots, and start connecting for chunks of commander damage plus card advantage. LATE: close by voltron with double strike (Leyline Axe, Fighter Class, Halvar), by Throwing a fat equipment (Nazgûl Battle-Mace, Excalibur) for a burst of damage, or by assembling Zirda + Basalt/Grim Monolith into infinite mana feeding Chandra's Ignition or repeated activations.
Ramp 9 — repeatable acceleration: Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, Talisman of Conviction, Talisman of Progress, Basalt Monolith, Grim Monolith, plus Land Tax, Codsworth and Dalakos. This makes every subsequent turn bigger and enables casting a 3-color commander on curve. Burst mana 2 — Jeska's Will and Iron Man, Titan of Innovation give one-shot explosive turns to power out equipment or activations. The curve is low and aggressive (avg CMC 2.86; 11 cards at 0-1, 19 at 2, 21 at 3), so you're deploying enablers turns 1-3 and the Captain turn 3-4. Gas keeps coming from equipment-triggered draw: Sram, Puresteel Paladin, Akiri, and the Sword of Feast and Famine / War and Peace connect triggers.

Chapter V
The Opening
what to keep, what to ship
Keep 2-4 lands with at least one cheap mana rock OR one equipment enabler (Stoneforge Mystic, Sram, Puresteel Paladin) or a tutor (Steelshaper's Gift, Open the Armory, Enlightened Tutor). Ideal hand: 3 lands, a rock, and a way to find/deploy a sword. Ship no-land hands, all-equipment-no-mana hands, and hands with zero enablers or acceleration — this deck needs the Captain plus something to attach, so a hand that can't find either is a mulligan.

Chapter VI
The Close
how it ends
- Commander damage voltron: suit up Captain America via Catch with Sword of Feast and Famine, Sword of War and Peace, Colossus Hammer, or Leyline Axe, add double strike (Fighter Class, Halvar, God of Battle, Boros Charm), and connect for 21 commander damage.
- Throw kill: attach a high-CMC equipment (Excalibur, Sword of Eden at 12, Nazgûl Battle-Mace, Mjölnir) then use Throw to deal that mana value in damage split among targets — a surprise burst to a player or their board.
- Infinite mana into damage: assemble Zirda, the Dawnwaker + Basalt Monolith or Grim Monolith for infinite colorless mana, then sink it into Chandra's Ignition or repeated Captain activations / X-effects.
- Group damage: Chandra's Ignition or Nibelheim Aflame off a large equipped Captain deals its power to every creature/opponent, often wiping boards and burning out the table.

Assemblies
pieces that lock together
Zirda, the Dawnwaker + Basalt Monolith → infinite colorless mana
- Resolve Zirda, the Dawnwaker so activated ability costs are reduced by {2}.
- Cast and resolve Basalt Monolith (taps for {C}{C}{C}).
- Tap Basalt Monolith for 3 mana.
- Activate its untap ability — normally {3}, but reduced by Zirda to {1} — leaving net +2 colorless each cycle.
- Repeat untap/tap to generate infinite colorless mana.
- Sink it into Chandra's Ignition or repeated Captain America activations to win.
Zirda, the Dawnwaker + Grim Monolith → infinite colorless mana
- Resolve Zirda, the Dawnwaker for the {2} cost reduction.
- Cast and resolve Grim Monolith (taps for {C}{C}{C}).
- Tap Grim Monolith for 3 mana.
- Activate its untap ability — {4} reduced by Zirda to {2} — netting +1 colorless per cycle.
- Loop untap/tap for infinite colorless mana.
- Feed it into Chandra's Ignition or Captain America's Throw / X-sinks.

Chapter VIII
Handling
counsel and common errors
- Sequence Catch deliberately — it triggers at the beginning of combat, so decide before combat whether you want max power, an evasion/protection sword, or a fat equipment set up for Throw.
- Don't overextend the Captain into open mana; hold Mother of Runes, Swiftfoot Boots, Flawless Maneuver, or Boros Charm to protect against removal before committing to a big swing.
- Remember Throw is a real out — a 12-CMC Excalibur or 5-CMC Nazgûl Battle-Mace can deal that much damage split as needed, useful for finishing a player or clearing blockers at instant speed.
- Track metalcraft for Puresteel Paladin's free-equip; keep three artifacts on board to make suiting up cost-free.
- The Zirda + monolith line is your backup — hold it if the voltron plan gets grindy, and note Zirda also cuts your equip costs even without the combo.
- Board wipes are scarce (only Blasphemous Act), so respect symmetrical resets from opponents and keep a protection piece or a second threat in hand to rebuild.
- Iron Man and Jeska's Will are one-turn spikes, not ramp — deploy them the turn you plan to slam multiple equipment or go for the kill, not just to develop.
